Asby Pool Last Will and Testament |
In the name of God Amen. I Asby Pool of Monongalia County in the state of West Virginia, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say
1st I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
2nd After the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I dispose of and bequeath the estate both real and personal of which I may die seized in the manner following to wit:
I give unto my wife Christinna all my personal estates including moneys, bonds, bank stock, claims, books of account, farming utensils etc etc to be used by her as she may feel proper to use them, and to be disposed of by her at any time, as she may think proper. I desire that my said wife Christianna remain on the farm on which I now live during her life time and have the control, and reap the profits thereof, just as I have done myself.
After the death of my said wife I give and bequeath the said farm on which I now live to my children by my first wife Vilinder, to be equally divided among them. The names of said children are as follows to wit: William L Pool, John A. Pool, Catharine E. Pool (late Catharine E. Donley), Alexander F. Pool, Ann V. Pool (late Ann V. Bowlby), Mary T. Pool (late Mary T. Hoffman), George H. Pool, Theophilus Pool.
I will and bequeath to my son Hamilton S. Pool One hundred dollars which he has already received.
I will and bequeath to Nancy J. Pool one cow known as hers, one bureau bedstand bed and bedding known as hers.
I will and bequeath to Harriet Pool one cow known as hers, one bed and bed and bedding known as hers, also one bureau.
The balance of real estate I give and bequeath to my said wife Christianna to be held by her, or disposed of by her at any time, hereby authorizing my said wife Christianna to convey with covenants of General Warranty, any and all of the real estate of which I may die seized except the farm on which I now live, which I have bequeathed above. And I hereby authorize my wife Christianna to make deed or deeds for any real estate which I may have sold before my decease.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 30th day of August 1866

The last will and testament of Asby Pool, deceased, was this day produced to the Recorder fully proven by the oaths and examination of August Hammond and John J. Brown, two subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be admitted to the record.
