Coleman Bado of Hungary, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

Kalman (Coleman) Bodo, son of Alex Bodo and Julia Horvath, was born on May 16, 1902 in Felpec, Gyor, Hungary.  Coleman decided to use Bado as his surname and that is what is found going forward in the United States.

Kalman Bodo and his birthdate and birth place are listed on his father's Petition for Naturalization signed on October 10, 1911.

230 Fleet Street, Rankin, Pennsylvania

While Coleman was in Hungary, his father may have traveled to and from the United States twice.  I have not found immigration documents for Coleman; however, he was probably age ten when he traveled with his mother and sister, Elizabeth, to 230 Fleet Street, Rankin, Pennsylvania.   Coleman actually used Pennsylvania as his birth place.  As mentioned before, not having the 1920 Pennsylvania census with the Bodo family enumerated has been unfortunate.

Coleman was fifteen when his mother, Julia Horvath Bodo, died on December 20, 1917.  I have found no records for him until he married and was living in Washington, DC in the 1930's.

1930 District of Columbia taken on April 10, 1930
Coleman Bado, age 28, married at age 28, born in Pennsylvania.  His parents were both born in Hungary.  Coleman is renting an apartment for $23.00 monthly at 1237 I Street, Washington DC.  He is employed as a First Private with the US Army.

Olive Bado, age 33, born in Washington, DC.  Her parents were both born in Maryland.  She is not employed outside of the home.  Olive Viola Johnson was married first to Peter Joseph Pierce on April 10, 1917.  Sometime after 1920, Peter and Olive must have divorced.
