In December 1927, when Mom was six, she wrote a letter to Santa asking for a "porssicat" and a football. Thank you Grandma Stark aka Teek for saving the letter and dating it with Mom's age.
And Santa granted Mom's wish with a little black kitten, which he asked Mom to name "Thunder."
Mom had a lifelong love of animals and in particular cats. Perhaps it began with this letter to Santa and his gift to her.

I love the last part, "...and anything else you have." Smart girl to cover all the bases! And what a great treasure to have the letter and the picture!
ReplyDeleteThis is so precious. Gotta say tho, not sure Thunder is thrilled with being held like that! ROTFLOL
ReplyDeleteGreat post Linda!
What a gem! Love that she asked for a live cat - she really did cover her bases. Thanks so much for sharing all this.
ReplyDeletewonder if she got the football too!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteShe had her priorities right! And, yeah, I'm curious about the football, too!
ReplyDeleteSpecial treasures indeed to own, both the letter and the photo.
ReplyDeleteLove the post. And so special to have had it saved for you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carol. LOL
She got her porssicat :-) How lovely to still have the letter to Santa - we used to put our letters to Santa up the chimney (after they'd been checked) so none survived.
