Tombstone Tuesday--Edna Mae Thomas Hughes

My stepmother, Edna Mae Thomas Hughes, joined the Hughes family in 1982 when she married my Dad—a second marriage for both. It was my good fortune to have known her for the past 28 years. She died on April 17, 2010. Edna had suffered, what we learned was a second stroke, back in March. She did come out of a coma and returned to her daughter's home. She put forth a valiant effort, but was unable to do anything physical and in particular eat and swallow her food.

We had a glorious celebration of her life in Pittsburgh, on a cloudy day with showers. She had wanted to return home to Pittsburgh and the rain....she got her wish.

Edna, we will miss your smile, your laughter, your youthful spirit. We all know you have found Dad and that you are both in heaven dancing and enjoying each other’s company again. You will remain in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace dear lady.

P.S. The date plate for Edna's birth year is incorrect on the tombstone.....something we will have to change.
