Walter Kime, son of Henry C. Kime and Sarah Ann Barnhiser Kime, was born circa 1859 in Williams County, Ohio. His older twin brothers were born in Bryan, Pulaski Township in 1857. By 1862, the family lived in Superior Township.
Walter's father, Henry C. Kime , age 31, mustered in on August 26, 1862 for three years of service. He died on June 22, 1863 from wounds received on May 16, 1863 at the Battle of Champion Hills Mississippi. Walter was only three when his father died. He probably had little memory of him.
I do want to mention that the Kime surname is sometimes seen as Kimes. In fact, Walter is listed on Find A Grave as Walter Kimes.
Three counties in Wyandot County, Ohio
Sometime between 1862 and 1870, Walter's mother, Sarah, moved the family to Wyandot County, Ohio. Her parents, John Barnhiser and Susannah Brown Barnhiser, lived in the county as did her sister, Susan Barnhiser Clabaugh. Sarah, purchased land in Ridge Township where the first red star is located. Her parents lived in Carey, Crawford Township and her sister and her family in Tymochtee Township. As a recently widowed mother, there was family support nearby.
Walter lived on a farm with a school down the street. He is enumerated in the 1870 census; however is missing on the 1880. He did attend the local school.
On February 23, 1884, twenty-five year old, Walter Kime married twenty-one year old, Dellie Bachar in Wyandot County, Ohio. Dellie, nickname for Della, was the daughter of Jonas Bachar and Catherine Dumbaugh Bachar.
On December 21, 1884, Walter and Della welcomed their first child, a daughter, Nora Bell Kime. She was born in Ridge Township, Wyandot County, Ohio.
Frederick Clay Kime, joined the growing family on September 28, 1888 in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio. The family lived in West Park, Hancock County, Ohio.

Not having a 1890 census always leaves a twenty year gap in research. When the Kime family removed to Findlay, and what employment Walter had, is a question. Frederick's birth record does show that the Kime's lived in the West Park neighborhood of Findlay.
Further research has shown that Walter's older brother, Alfred L. Kime, was a butcher in Findlay at the time that Frederick Clay Kime was born. In fact Alfred also had a son born in 1888 and they also lived in the West Park neighborhood.
Little Frederick did not live long, He died in 1891 at about age three.. I have not found a death record. Frederick is buried in Wharton Cemetery, Wyandot County, Ohio His surname is listed as Kimes. A number of the Kime family are also buried there. His parents, grandmother and aunts and uncles.
Walter Kime and family are missing from the 1900 census. Where they are living is a mystery. The family suffered another time of grief. Della S. "Dellie" Kime died on March 18, 1902 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. She is buried at Wharton Cemetery, Wyandot County, Ohio with her son and husband.
Perhaps following Della's death, Walter and his daughter, moved back to Wyandot County, Ohio. Nora Bell Kimes, age twenty one, married twenty-one year old, Clyde C. Ekleberry, on April 11, 1906 in Wyandot County, Ohio. Clyde, born about 1885 was the son of Wellington N. Ekleberry and Susanna Scott Ekleberry.

Walter Kime, age 50, a widower is living at his mother's house in the village of Wharton. One of his brothers, Albert Kime, is also living there. Several doors away is his married sister, Mary Ellen Kime Greek. Walter is employed as a laborer.

Walter Kime, age 60, has purchased a home with a mortgage in Wharton. It looks like he is a wage laborer.
On August 23, 1922, Walter's daughter, thirty seven year old, Nora Bell Kime Eckleberry died of tuberculosis. She was at the Irene Bryon Sanitorium located in Fort Wayne, Perry Township, Allen County, Indiana. She was buried August 25, 1922 at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Tuberculosis was a lung infection that was found in many communities in the United States in the early 1900's. The Irene Bryon Sanitorium in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which opened in 1919, was one of many hospitals that focused on assisting those patients suffering from the disease.
Walter Kime, died on March 13, 1928 in Hancock County, Ohio at the age of about sixty nine. He is buried at Wharton Cemetery, Wyandot County, Ohio. His mother, Sarah Ann Barnhiser Kime, died eight months after him. All are buried under the Kimes surname: Walter Kimes, his wife, Dillie Bachar Kimes, their son, Frederick Clay Kimes, his mother, Sarah Barnhiser Kimes, his sister, Mary Ellen Kimes Greek and his brother, Albert Kimes.
