I too remember the "Gerard", I remember seeing the movie Blackboard Jungle there and hearing Bill Haley & the Comets performing "Rock Around the Clock" the projectionist, knowing that we were mostly adolescents, cranked up the audio and there was dancing in the isles. In 1979 I occupied one half of the front of the building to house my business "TVS Electronics" I was there till 1985 and can remember going through the back of the building to see the remnents of where the screen once was. Mrs. Nash wasted no time coming down the isle then usual left with the guilty party by the arm. Then there was the "Take a chance you may get 2" selection handle on the candy machine and the "15 Cartoons on Easter Monday when we were out of school. Then there were the shooting stars done by launching pieces of paper with rubber bands thru the light from the projector to the screen.Paul Schlemmer (Jan 18 2010)noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559842070525209896.post-80589893514206837602009-12-31T09:02:16.935-05:002009-12-31T09:02:16.935-05:00Well researched and nicely presented Linda. I lived out in the country so a trip to the movies was a rare event. I recall going into Cleveland to see a few, in grandly appointed old theatres. It seemed like a big deal back then.Paul Sandersonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559842070525209896.post-47363479759570664412009-12-30T23:57:20.246-05:002009-12-30T23:57:20.246-05:00I am with Greta, I remember walking to the local m...I am with Greta, I remember walking to the local movie theater to go all morning Saturday movies. I remember in the summer there were serial movies, similar to the Mini series TV movies of the 90's. Hopa Long Cassidy, gosh I can't think of all of them. But the feelings of fun and camaraderie of the time still lingers on.
Thanks for the memory.
FrancesFranEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00727917499152200255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559842070525209896.post-10021835855481869012009-12-30T19:59:58.091-05:002009-12-30T19:59:58.091-05:00Oh my gosh, this brings back so many memories.
