While wandering about the Lafayette Cemetery # 1, in the Garden District, New Orleans, Louisiana this weekend, I spied a tree trunk tombstone. Imagine my surprise when I saw the deceased was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
It didn’t stop there…..I found several more.

ReplyDeleteInteresting finds. I never new these existed. It makes me want to get back out there and do more graveyard hunting. it's been a while.
ReplyDeleteWhile burying a family yesterday, i walked over to my great grandfathers rick.i knew he had an unusual tree stump like memorial& i had asked my mother who will soon be 90 many times why he had that.she does not know. A friend cleaned off some rock & it revealed " modern woodman of the world" now I'm really curious He was born in 1854 & died in 1914..my plans are to find something to really clean this up. It is beautiful
